About us

barcelonamontserrat.com is an independent comparison and information site for the day trip from Barcelona to Montserrat. The trip combines the train ride from Barcelona, a mountain railway up to the monastery (rack railway or cable car) and admission to the monastery. The two main combined tickets are the Trans Montserrat Card and the Tot Montserrat Card, covering different combinations of transport and admission. Both are sold through our booking partner Tiqets.

The day has two switches, and you throw both of them at the moment you buy: rack railway or cable car for the climb, and once you are up there, basilica and viewpoint only or museum and lunch as well. For each ticket we set out which legs of the chain it covers, from the metro in Barcelona through the train and the mountain railway to admission, how booking and validation work, and where a variant quietly includes more than one day on the mountain allows.

barcelonamontserrat.com is an independent guide. We are not the official website of the rail operator or the Montserrat monastery. We are not a general Barcelona or Montserrat travel guide, and we deliberately leave out hotel booking and tickets without a connection to this day trip. We do not sell the tickets ourselves: bookings are completed with our partner Tiqets, and their current prices, availability and terms apply.
